At Le Bon Marche, we do not have typical day as we work according to the demand of the vendors, suppliers, customers, logistic, press, merchandising and all the commercial operations of the stores. A lot of events (sales, TBM period, food animations with french chiefs, annual exhibition of the store etc...) make this job unique in an amazing and beautiful department store.
I was successful in proving my competencies in this large organization. In less than a year, besides handling the tableware segment, I was in charge of the Brooklyn project exhibition and then my managers gave me another segment: table linen. I managed to schedule my work, adapted quickly to collaborate with three different buyers, and established methods of management.
During this experience, I attended shows and met with suppliers to look for new brands and collaborated with them for the next season’s collection. This is the part of the job that I enjoy most, aside from the administrative tasks of handling orders, contracts, budgets, reporting of the commercial operations, negotiation of pricing, payment and delivery terms and inventory. I also like dealing with foreign suppliers as I enjoy speaking English and Mandarin at work.
